The Brunswick Area Youth Football League provides flag football, tackle football and cheerleading to the youth of Brunswick, MSAD 75 towns and surrounding communities in Maine. BAYFL is a non-profit organization designed to promote the principals of good sportsmanship and fair play, while taking an interest in the physical and moral development of our youth.

Objectives & Expected Level Of Play By Division

Tackle Football (3-4)

Kids are introduced to tackle football at the 3-4 grade level. Using the guidelines of USA Football we teach proper tackling technique and begin development of skills that will aid the kids as they move up in BAYFL. Kids and parents can expect a more regimented approach to practices and games including a season ending trip to the Halloween Bowl.

Tackle Football (5-6)

With a couple years under their belts this level is when things start to look more like true football. Continuing with the guidance of USA Football, kids are schooled on proper tackling technique and how to adapt to increased player size and speed of the game. This level also becomes more competitive and intricate as a full playbook is implemented and the season ending playoffs to crown league champions.

Tackle Football (7-8)

Middle school level football is the end of the line for our BAYFL kids. Emphasis is placed on further refinement of skills learned at the lower levels, again all under the guidance of USA Football. Playbooks will continue to expand at this level and kids can expect a rigorous practice schedule and competitive and exciting games. Season ending playoffs will crown the league champions. Skills and experiences learned at this level will go a long way towards preparing kids for high school football at both MTA and BHS.

Flag Football (K-2)

This in house program is designed to get our youth interested in the game of football without worrying about tackling or other physical contact. We follow USA flag football rules. Kids in the program will learn the game of football and feel confident about moving up to the next level when they’re in 3rd grade.

Cheering (K-8)

Participants will practice 1-2 days a week. They will learn sideline cheers & chants to encourage the team and engage the crowd. They will be taught the basics of cheering, including technique, jumps and stunting. The older teams will learn a half time routine to perform at games.
